Customer Service

Meter Reading Instructions

If you read your own meter you may submit your read online using our Customer Service Portal, you may also call the office (775-3325), or you may write it on your bill in the space provided.  The most important thing is that all meter reads need to be received in our office by the 15th of every month.  If you have questions about which numbers to provide please click on our Policy Handbook link for pictures showing the types of meters in use. Any of customer who hasn't provided a meter read for two consecutive months will have their meter read by our serviceman and be charged a $50.00 Non-Meter Read Fee.  To avoid this extra expense please provide your reads each month by the 15th.

New Customers

Are you new to our service area?  Will you be requesting service?  Stop by our office,  located on Main Street in Republic, or contact our office at (509) 775-3325.  You will be asked to complete an Application for Service and you will be asked to provide your social security number, photo identification, and either a security deposit, letter of credit or signature card.  The amount of Security Deposit may vary, depending on the type of service to be connected.  You can reach Joyce Dunn at (509)-775-3325 if you have any questions on new accounts.

Budget Billing

For those customers who would like to pay the same amount each month our Budget Billing Program may be for you.  This program uses the average electrical usage for the immediate past twelve month period or the history of any prior tenants.  In the event there is no usage history for the location, a calculated monthly average for our consumers will be used to determine the monthly billing amount.  The monthly basic charge and cost of a security light if applicable is added to the amount billed.  You may request this plan any time during the year.  The monthly budget payments are re-calculated annually and your past year's usage will determine if your payment will go up or down.  Contact Jayne Jurgensen for more details if you are interested.

Gift Certificates

Do you have that special someone on your gift list and don't know what to get them?  Have you considered giving a special "Gift Certificate" from the P.U.D.?  You can apply any dollar amount you like on the account to help them through the coming months.  We send a card letting the customer know that someone special helped them - If you want this to be a secret surprise -- we can do that too!  Contact us at (509)-775-3325 or visit our office for more information.

High or Low Bill Inquiries

If you have questions about your monthly billing statement, or concerns regarding the high/low use on your meter, our staff is ready to help you.  Use can vary for many different reasons.  If we're unable to answer your questions over the telephone, we'll be glad to schedule a field visit for further review.  For assistance, you can contact Sheila Shockey at (509)775-3325 .

Safety Tips

Light Watchmen...

Friendly "night lights" both inside and outside your home can contribute to peace of mind when the sun sets and when you are away from home.  You can keep night lighting costs low, and protect your home, by following some simple suggestions:

  •   Don't leave indoor lamps or outside lights on during the day.  Invest in low cost photoelectric cells or time clocks that shut off lights when the sun rises.
  •   Consider buying a time clock system to turn on lights at different times in the evening if you are away for a number of days.
  •   Instead of leaving a regular light burning, buy low wattage night lights to guide family members who wake in the middle of the night.  Plug the night lights into sockets in areas such as hallways, bathrooms and near stairways.

Power is our business, but safety is our concern!
